Bayreuth gives 20 good accounts of itself
In a new brochure, the Lord Mayor and entrepreneurs turn themselves into ambassadors of the city
Bayreuth. The premiere was successful: The new corporate and information brochure about the industrial location Bayreuth already reached the first interested party at Expo Real, the international trade fair for commercial property, which took place in München in October. And: It went down well.
Then, yesterday, Lord Mayor Dr. Michael Hohl, entrepreneurs of Bayreuth as well as substitutes of university and administration, who promote Bayreuth across the board with their name and face, showcased the 20-page brochure. A versatile economic structure, the dynamic university and excellent travel connections were among the significant locational advantages of Bayreuth, said Hohl at the presentation at the centre of excellence New Materials. The economic prognoses for the city would “not be too bad”. Initiatives like the centre of excellence New Materials and the technology park Wolfsbach would indicate the right direction. “But only locations, which advance their potentials, remain ahead in competition”, the Lord Mayor explained. An integrated urban development concept, which the city had commissioned, would show future prospects. According to this, new materials, health and logistics were the economic sectors, that Bayreuth would rely on for the future. This would also be reflected in the brochure, which the department for promotion of economic development in the town hall has implemented with the agency GMK of Bayreuth.
Yesterday, Lord Mayor Dr. Michael Hohl (Middle) presented the new corporate and information brochure about the industrial location Bayreuth in cooperation with entrepreneurs.
In the brochure, the executive director of the company Schlaeger, Anton Fuchs, the locational director of BAT, Marc Van Herreweghe, the head of the brewerie Jeff Maisel, university president professor Helmut Ruppert, the director of MTS Bayreuth, Dr. Klaus Schneider, the executive director of Neue Materialien Bayreuth GmbH (centre of excellence New Materials), Dr. Dieter Kunz, the two owners of medi Dr. Michael and Stefan Weihermüller, the logisticians Frank Steinbach and Christian Wedlich, the Festival supervisors Eva Wagner-Pasquier and Katharina Wagner as well as the owner of the piano factory Steingraeber & Söhne, Udo Schmidt-Steingraeber confess to Bayreuth.
Bayreuth as product
Schmidt-Steingraeber used yesterday’s appointment to appeal to the rationality of the local politicians concerning the advancement of the location Bayreuth. He could not share opinions that the city would need no congress centre, the market would already be split between existing locations. “The point is to present Bayreuth as a new product on this market. And it will be purchased if the quality is right”, said Steingraeber. However, he would advise against the restoration of the town hall and with it the close-down, as long as Bayreuth would not possess a house of conference. This would not only collide with the upcoming anniversary years. “Especially organisers, who by now provide for 90 days of congress per year in Bayreuth, would be snubbed and driven away.” This “crop damage” and the tough tasks to catch up, which would be necessary to retrieve lost congress customers, could be avoided. If it would be planned rationally now.
Actually, it was also planned that the construction of the technology centre of Bayreuth would be beyond the state it indeed is. Yesterday, Lord Mayor Hohl explained on-site in Wolfsbach that this retardation would have two reasons: Staff changing at the ministry of economics after the state election would have been conducive as well as the wait-and-see attitude of Siemens in light of the approaching economic crisis. Siemens is classified as partner and most important tenant in the centre, which is supposed to facilitate the step onto the markets for young high-tech companies. Meanwhile, said Hohl, he would have received positive signals of both positions, though.
