Kompetenzzentrum Neue Materialien Nordbayern and Verein Deutscher Ingenieure (VDI) in Bayreuth cordially invite you to the lecture of the month of March.

The application of thermoplastic foam injection moulding (TSG) as modern manufacturing process for technical plastic components offers a great potential to reduce expenses by means of decreased input, revised dimensional accuracy and abbreviated cycle time. Due to the fact that the weight of the shaped part can be reduced by frothing the plastic, the technique is conducive to the lightweight construction. However, the industrial realization often fails because of impaired surface quality and reduced mechanical attributes, whereas slight weight savings can already be noticed.

At Neue Materialien Bayreuth GmbH, these questions have been taken up in several research projects and solved in cooperation with vigorous partners from the plastics industry since 2003.

The lecture presents current developments around the topic thermoplastic foam injection moulding. Aspects in terms of substances as well as toolmaking are seized. Due to exact process management, modern tool technologies of injection moulding with variothermic tempering, gas back pressure or breathing tools approve the tailoring of structural attributes like e.g. rigidity at good surfaces. Furthermore, accurate predictions concerning the attributes can be made with the right choice of substances, so that rude surprises stay away.

After the lecture, the referee will be available for questions and further information.

Participation is exempt from charges. Registration is not required, but for organisational reasons we ask for a formless registration – also possible by email.

The presentation takes place at Kompetenzzentrum Neue Materialien, Gottlieb-Keim-Str. 60, 95448 Bayreuth-Wolfsbach. See directions (Follow the signposting "Neue Materialien").

We are glad to welcome you there on March 3rd.
